Frank Moss, Director of MIT Media Lab, March 31, 2009
Today over a billion people worldwide enjoy the benefits of a
digital lifestyle. But in order to meet the huge challenges faced by society in
the next decade, we must find radically new ways for technology to have a much
deeper impact on our lives. We will describe the next big wave in technology,
which is emerging as the result of advances at the intersection of the
biological, physical and information sciences. This will set the stage for
innovations which will transform what it means to be human, the very essence of
our society and the future of business, beginning with people who are disabled,
disadvantaged or disenfranchised.
